Project Academic, Career and Education experiences (ACEe)

Eligibility requirements

Greater Richmond area students in grades 11 and 12 with a minimum GPA of 2.5, who are interested in exploring a career in medicine. Students must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Preference is given to students attending Richmond Public Schools; however, students from the Greater Richmond Metropolitan area schools are welcome to submit applications for consideration.

Program description

Project ACEe is an after-school program that meets on Fridays for 90-minute workshops. Participants learn about different specialties and aspects of medicine through workshops and mentoring opportunities. Project ACEe participants receive preparatory information for successful admission to college and the medicine program at VCU.

Participants are required to provide their own transportation and parking during the program. Commitment to full attendance is required to participate.

Project ACEe is sponsored by the VCU School of Medicine and is designed to expose disadvantaged high school students to the medical profession and to increase the number of health care practitioners from disadvantaged backgrounds who will practice in the state of Virginia.
