Invited students in grades six, seven and eight who are interested in exploring a career in health care and VCU as a college choice.

Program description

Ft. Lee HOP is a three-day summer program where participants focus on career opportunities in health care. Participants take part in hands on activities, a hospital tour and attend lectures featuring various topics about health careers.

This program is a collaboration with Ft. Lee Family and Youth Services.  Ft. Lee HOP is a From Jump Rope to Stethoscope (FJR2S) program. FJR2S is a community outreach program offered through the VCU Health System Human Resources’ Office of Workforce Development and Strategy. The goal of this program is to increase the diversity within the health care workforce and to create the VCU Health System workforce of the future.
