Dental Career Exploration (DCE)

Eligibility requirements

Central Virginia students in grades nine, 10, 11 and 12 who are interested in exploring a career in dentistry. 

GPA requirement: 3.0 or above. All applicants must have U.S. citizenship or Permanent Resident status.

All students must have completed 9th grade by the time the program begins to be eligible for this summer program. At the start of the program, each student should be between a rising 10th grader and a graduating senior. No applicant below or above the specified grade specifications will be considered.

Program description

DCE is a six-day summer program where participants explore dentistry as a health care profession. Participants learn through an interactive dental anatomy course, hands-on activities and clinical observations. DCE participants are also given preparatory information for successful admission to a four-year college program and dental school.

Transportation and parking are not provided by the program.

Lunch and any other materials required to participate in the program will be provided. Commitment to full attendance, including an orientation session and closing event, is required to participate.
