VCU Dental Scholars
The VCU Dental Scholars program is offered to high school students from the city of Richmond and Chesterfield, Hanover and Henrico counties who are interested in exploring a career in dentistry. Students from outside of these areas may apply to participate as long as they have reliable transportation.
Scholars will meet twice a month for 90-minute workshops beginning in November and ending in April at the VCU School of Dentistry. All sessions meet Tuesday evenings from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Additional dates can be found on flier. An emphasis is placed on hands-on activities. The first half of the workshop is composed of a lecture by a VCU dental student or faculty member, while the second half is a laboratory experience. Students will get the opportunity to visit the Dent-Sim lab, create impressions, carve a wax tooth, and more.
There is no cost for the program and all participants are responsible for providing their own transportation and parking. Participants are expected to be in attendance for the full duration of the program.
