Dental Career Exploration Program
The Dental Career Exploration Program is offered to 10th-, 11th- and 12th-grade students who are interested in exploring a career in dentistry. The program provides students with hands-on workshops emphasizing reading comprehension, public speaking and study skills.
Dental Hygiene Career Exploration Program
The Dental Hygiene Career Exploration Program is designed to expose diverse high school juniors and seniors to the dental hygiene profession. Program participants will gain hands-on laboratory experience dealing with dental hygiene instrumentation, dental anatomy, scaling and more.
Governor’s School for Medicine and the Health Sciences
The Governor’s School for Medicine and the Health Sciences is a four-week summer program that explores the health sciences and medicine through a systems-based, problem-solving approach that utilizes case studies, laboratory investigations and real-world shadowing experiences.
Health Sciences Academy
The Health Sciences Academy offers a health sciences exploration course to high school students attending Cosby High School Health Sciences Specialty Center, John Marshall High School and Richmond Community High School.
From Jump Rope to Stethoscope
From Jump Rope to Stethoscope is a community outreach program that aims to increase and awareness of health care professions for students from kindergarten to 12th grade.
Learning Excellence Academics Program
The Learning Excellence Academics Program is a five-week college preparatory pipeline program for students to explore STEM-H majors and careers. It is designed to help students better understand the needs during the transition to college from high school, specifically the increased personal responsibility, level of expectation, and independent time management.
Physical Therapy Career Exploration Program
The Physical Therapy Career Exploration Program is a two-week program that exposes high school students to the profession of physical therapy and provides them with the opportunity to improve their overall academic skills.
Project ACEe (Academic, Career and Educational experiences) is a program sponsored by the VCU School of Medicine to expose under-represented high school students to the medical profession by providing them with workshops and mentoring opportunities.
VCU Dental Scholars
VCU Dental Scholars is a program offered to high school students who are interested in exploring a career in dentistry. Scholars meet twice a month for 90-minute hands-on workshops from November through April.
